Appealing no Assessment Centre invitation

If an applicant wishes to appeal against our decision not to be invited for an interview/audition,  their application form will be reviewed by the Trainee Recruitment Lead, who will either confirm the original decision or move the application to the next stage and invite the candidate to an interview/audition.

Appeals must be received in writing via email within 14 days of the date of the decision email. Appeals should be sent to: recruitment@elam.co.uk

Appealing Assessment Centre outcome

If, after an interview/audition, an applicant is not offered any of the following:

  • A conditional offer

  • A place on the waiting list

The applicant may appeal for a second chance by sending the grounds of their appeal via email to the Trainee Recruitment Lead on recruitment@elam.co.uk  within 14 days of the  decision.

The second chance is designed for situations where the candidate believes they did not perform to the best of their ability due to extenuating circumstances, i.e illness, bereavement.  Please note, we will not offer a second chance invitation to applicants who fail to demonstrate extenuating circumstances. We may request documentation to support your appeal, i.e medical certificate.

A decision will be made by the Trainee Recruitment Lead whether to uphold the original decision or to grant a second chance audition.

If the grounds of appeal is accepted, a member of our Senior Lead Team will conduct the second chance interview/audition. The outcomes of the interview can be a conditional offer, a conditional waiting list offer or no offer.

We will not accept verbal requests for appeals.

If an applicant is not offered a place

If an applicant receives an unsuccessful Stage 2 appeals decision and wishes to appeal again, the grounds of appeal must be resubmitted and addressed to the Principal of ELAM via email to the Trainee Recruitment Lead within 14 days of the decision email.

Stage 3 appeals will be considered by a panel of two people, including a member of ELAM’s Senior Leadership Team and the strand Head of Department. The appellant and ELAM will both be required to submit evidence by a set date ahead of an appeal meeting, and the panel may restrict the addition of further evidence after this date.

The appeal panel will determine whether the second chance process was carried out in a fair and objective way. If they conclude it was, they will uphold the original decision and dismiss the appeal.

Alternatively, if they do not find that the second chance process was carried out in a fair, objective way, they will need to assess whether sufficient evidence has been presented to them to demonstrate that the applicant is of the required standard and meets criteria.

After careful consideration, the panel will decide either to

  • Uphold the original decision, or

  • Uphold the appeal and admit the applicant to ELAM/admit the applicant onto the waiting list

The decision of the panel is final and will be communicated in writing.
